Drum Lessons with Tim Staump
Personalized Lessons
Staump’s primary focus when working with his students is to ensure that not only are they acquiring drum skills but that they are also enjoying the experience. Staump prides himself on creating a custom lesson based on each student’s particular learning style, interests, and needs. He has experience working with individuals with diverse learning needs and facilitates flexibility in his teaching style by modifying the manner in which the lesson is delivered. Staump excels at creating connections and rapport with students and families. This connection allows the students to feel safe to make mistakes and learn without judgment.
Staump’s Teachings will help you with
Foundational Techniques
Building a strong base is key. Whether the student is a beginner or looking to enhance their skills, Staump guides them to their desired proficiency.
Playing along with music
Music is meant to be enjoyed. Staump will focus on making the student’s learning experience enjoyable, recording their performances for reflection before moving on to the next challenge.
Drums students should expect to learn to read music notation and how it applies to the drumset. Students will learn drum rudiments through hands-on practice that is fun. A drum lesson with Staump would include the use of two side- by-side acoustic drumsets to support visual learners. Staump also utilizes visual cues (demonstrations) to support the learning of proper technique. Technology integration is also to be expected as Staump utilizes screens to project charts, notations, or view music videos for instructional purposes.
Drumset lessons for everyone
As mentioned earlier, drum lessons should be made enjoyable, and that is only possible if they are simple and delivered by an instructor that can customize them for the student’s specific learning needs.
Love a song? Staump will guide you through its drum parts, turning the process into a fun exercise for mastery. Not only will students have the opportunity to play along to songs and genres that they are already familiar with but they will have the opportunity to experience a variety of music whether it is rock, jazz, country, pop, the choices are nearly endless.
Lessons are designed to meet each student’s personal goal whether it is to become a professional or someone who would prefer recreational drumming.
